Angel de Quinta’s STAGE DOOR Blog

Broadway to me is very similar to Opera when it comes to my natural reaction and interest in the topic. I do see and enjoy broadway musicals and plays more than an opera, Maybe because the music seems more modern and the plays seem more relatable I can easily find something I can relate to. I also, understand clearly what the topic of the broadway show is. I do see the similarities in both styles of music you can even say broadway and opera are the same just placed in different times. From my understanding a Broadway show is theatrical performances which I'm sure that's what opera is. the videos in Angel De Quinta's blog sound very different but very the same and similar to operas.

Pyotr Tchaikovsky "THE QUEEN OF SPADES"

The Opera I chose is Pyotr Tchaikovsky “The queen of Spades” which premiered in March of 1890 in St. Petersburg Russia. It was an adaption from Alexander Pushkin The Queen of Spades. The Art piece is a three act 7 scene Opera. At the start of the play what caught my eye was how still the people around the main character stood while the first few minutes played out. They stood absolutely still sort of like statues. This adds to the “Mise en Scene”. The Music told the story it guided you through what was going on. When the people finally did start to move it kind of felt like a distraction while they switched up the props and scene to go into what’s next. I’ve never sat down and watched a play in full let along an Opera.  The Opera singing is what is hard for me to understand and pick out what they are saying and the importance to it all. With all the moving pieces and people, it was hard to focus on one thing to really catch on to what is going.  The music guides you and lets you k

Madama Butterfly Animation

A one sided love story with a bad ending is my first understanding the animation. A woman who believed to be loved by a sailer who turns out not to love her at all. I believe this is something that happens to people everyday. something that anyone and everyone can relate to. As I watched I couldn't help myself but think why is she just waiting around for him, no job no hobby nothing just sitting around on the beach waiting for this man. In which by the story showed no interest in anything about her. As the story showed my first understanding was correct. I enjoyed this short animation, it comes with many lessons in which you can view and take as they come in any way that relates best to you. Life is funny like that and it is always interesting and great to see when an artist can capture that on screen and with sound.

Black Truth & MnX Productions logo's (Extra Credit)

Black Truth & MnX Production Logo's This is a drawing of my future and my passion. My own creativity summed up in one drawing. They are both logos of my companies. Black Truth is a clothing line I'm starting that will show case black beauty in many different ways. The heart represents our love for our own and our work. The heart beat stands for the drive and dedication we have that's built in. The music note stands for what brings us all together. We realized we have many things in common one of those mainly being music. MnX Productions is my film production company the logo a clapperboard in film is a tool used to synch film and audio used to keep everything in track along with other things. for that we use it the same way we are he to sync our audience with great film. I mixed both logos because they are my truth passions this is what makes me truly happy.

Raul Cuero's Creativity.

I think the biggest way I can adapt from this interview is his way of thinking. when he told the story about how his family had to share the floor and lived with roaches. Instead of him being scared or killing the roach he watched and took that whole situation as a learning thing and started to study the roaches behavior. This mind set can help me get through this class and keep a positive mind set while setting me up to do the same in other areas of my life. Something I admire and did myself was put my education first. He realized that people was placing no value on him just because of where he comes from so he decided to prove everyone wrong and become better then was as a basketball player. There are a few topics in the class that aren't exactly appealing and interesting at first look but if you learn to look at it in different ways you can pull and find the art with in anything and everything.
