Camera Obscura

This was a difficult project for me. Trying to understand the idea and creating the box to working with a 9month old baby. Ive had to watch several videos to finally get a decent box made as pictured below. The idea was to get a couple shots of my backyard and a couple shots of my son playing in his bouncer. I enjoyed taking the images I am a filmmaker so it was difficult for me not to hit the record button and see exactly how it would come out. The pictures of the backyard and my son was a fail and these are the images I took. I tried a different way I found on youtube and came out with a better but darker image of my son which in return I think was the wrong way to do it.

Pyotr Tchaikovsky "THE QUEEN OF SPADES"

The Opera I chose is Pyotr Tchaikovsky “The queen of Spades” which premiered in March of 1890 in St. Petersburg Russia. It was an adaption from Alexander Pushkin The Queen of Spades. The Art piece is a three act 7 scene Opera. At the start of the play what caught my eye was how still the people around the main character stood while the first few minutes played out. They stood absolutely still sort of like statues. This adds to the “Mise en Scene”. The Music told the story it guided you through what was going on. I’ve never sat down and watched a play in full let along an Opera.  The Opera singing is what is hard for me to understand and pick out what they are saying and the importance to it all. With all the moving pieces and people, it was hard to focus on one thing to really catch on to what is going.  The music guides you ...

inspired by the sky. as I looked up at the clouds and imagined what if our sky was many different shades of blue and just wasn't the normal sky we see on the daily. what if the sky was whatever I wanted it to be. and this grid is what I came up with. thank you.

Angel de Quinta’s STAGE DOOR Blog

Broadway to me is very similar to Opera when it comes to my natural reaction and interest in the topic. I do see and enjoy broadway musicals and plays more than an opera, Maybe because the music seems more modern and the plays seem more relatable I can easily find something I can relate to. I also, understand clearly what the topic of the broadway show is. I do see the similarities in both styles of music you can even say broadway and opera are the same just placed in different times. From my understanding a Broadway show is theatrical performances which I'm sure that's what opera is. the videos in Angel De Quinta's blog sound very different but very the same and similar to operas.
