YouTube the greatest 21st Century Technology

Have you ever heard of YouTube? I’m here sure you have it is everywhere and on every electronic device you come across. Every child, adult and if animals could I’m sure they would be glued to a screen using and watching YouTube. YouTube is a video hosting service. It is used for many things from watching films to learning how to build a jet from scratch. In my opinion YouTube took over the instruction manual to anything and everything. YouTube was created 14 years ago in 2005 founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim. The parent company is Google. YouTube is used all around the globe from America to Australia.  There is not one person that as not or will not use the YouTube services. The reason I picked this technology is because it is something that affects us all in many different ways. This technology is a tool that can and does bring knowledge to your fingertips. Need to know to build up the perfect resume? YouTube, it. Do you need to learn how to cook Baked Alaska? YouTube, it. Do you need to learn the basics of physics? YouTube, it. That is just a few things that YouTube brings to the table. To be knowledge is the most important thing. It is something that cannot be taken away from you. Once you gain knowledge is forever yours and that is something YouTube does every day of the year. The biggest thing YouTube does that I think is underrated. It gives people a platform to communicate with anyone across the globe. In today’s society, our lives consist of living through the internet. People use their phones for everything communication related from texting to facetiming etc. People use YouTube to create content to entertain, teach, learn, communicate and etc. The platform has made people stars, have gave people opportunities to grow their businesses and their own induvial talents.
I believe that the advancements made in just YouTube alone can push things in a negative or positive way for our futures in which I believe is an exciting thing to think about. I am a filmmaker and to think of ways YouTube can destroy or build our world is truly amazing. Let’s start with the negative. YouTube can brainwash children and have them believe in a reality that truly isn’t the truth. There is a video surfacing around YouTube where a creature is interrupting children videos and scaring kids to do bad things like kill themselves or hurt others.  This is scary, no YouTube is not completely to blame for this but just how YouTube gives us a platform for you to share the positive there is an opportunity there for a platform to share the negative. We can go on for hours on how YouTube can be a platform for the negative and corrupt our minds and society. Then on the other hand as we already discussed YouTube changes lives and gives people let’s say 20 years ago opportunities that never existed.  That when you sit down and think about it is huge. Having the ability to dictate your own future is something I’m sure my grandparents dreamed of having. YouTube has influenced us all every person on earth has some sort of relationship and understanding with YouTube. YouTube taught us all something and what we do with that knowledge is the future and the technologies we build from that all came from the opportunity that YouTube brought to our fingertips.
